Western Districts Week of Golf 2010

-   Press release -

Over 200 players are expected to attend the 10th annual Week of Golf promoted by Western Districts Veteran Golfers’ Association at Dubbo Golf Club from Sunday 19th  to Friday 24 th September.

The tournament has gone from strength to strength, originally with only about 80 - 100 players.  However, over the years, participation has grown to 240 last year.

“Many visitors from all over NSW come to play, and many have attended for most of the yearly events,”   Tournament Director, Mr John Dixon, said. “The hard working committee have arranged accommodation specials for visitors, at both motels and caravan parks.”

Although the tournament is titled ‘Week of Golf’, competitors have the option to play all four days, on any day as a one off event, or play several days.   There will also be individual events on each day, with Monday and Tuesday being a 36-hole event.

Mr Dixon said that one alternative, is to play Thursday - the NSWVGA Trophy Day - and stay on for the official presentation dinner/dance followed by play in a Medley 4BBB on Friday morning.

“This event could be joined to a visit to the western region which in spring is a picture of natural beauty.  Western Plains Zoo is adjacent to the golf course and has proved popular in the past, together with other tourist attractions.”  Mr Dixon said.

For those intending to enter the tournament, a magnificent 27 hole course awaits, with the availability of early bird entries receiving discounts.

“For those who enter early, tee times will be allocated as requested, but if participants leave entry to late in the year, they will have to take fill in times.   Western district residents intending to play are advised to enter as soon as possible, as visitors are sending their entries on a regular basis, filling the time sheet quickly.”  Mr Dixon said.

For those with computer access, entry forms are available on the Dubbo Golf Club or NSWVGA websites; otherwise they should see their respective club secretaries.
