Progress Report - 'new' Website

Well as you can see I haven't been quite as active during the 'winter lull' and the
reason for that is working hard on development issues.

The early stages of this project will move slowly from an observers point of view
but not for us as we overcome browser issues to minimise display conflicts, etc.
The majority of people use Microsoft Internet Explorer, but which version? Others
use Firefox (like me), or Opera and many other browsers. While developing this
website we must be very aware of these issues as many 'vets' are using the
'hand-me-down' computers from their children (a complete reversal from
when we were kids), that vary widely in age and capability.

We are trying to make a level playing field so everyone can make full use of the
website regardless their level of internet experience, their equipment or ability
to print information directly from the site.

As expected security of data from the member records 'is a big issue' from my
perspective and we are canvassing a number of options as we start the 'real work'
on the internal engine to drive this website. Remember this is to give this website
longevity (not at all dependent on me) by adding ownership responsibilities to
other members of the executive. New 'old guys', you like that, are more and more
computer savvy, the continued development of the website (as needed) has now
been placed in the hands of a professional and much younger man, so the future
of the NSWVGA is secure.

I have also been canvassing the area of sponsorship, not only 'new' sponsors but
also how we can give more exposure back to existing and potential sponsors.

Meet Owen Brunker (Website developer).
He doesn't say much because I do all the talking, he solves the problems I create and
he dosen't play golf. That orange coloured menu bar on the screen on the right was
the problem as it turned up in three different places in three browsers - fixed.
