The Shoalhaven Vets Week of Golf was staged last week.
Three single stableford events for both men and ladies were held at Nowra, Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen's (Worrigee Links), and St Georges Basin on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively as part of the Week of Golf.
A total of 130 players from Cairns (Queensland), Shepparton in Victoria, Far Northern NSW and Broken Hill represented some 55 clubs.
The excessive rainfall immediately prior to the event was concerning, however, with the last minute swapping of venues was necessary to make the best use of the available courses after excessive rainfall occurred the week prior to the competition.
Many volunteers assisted behind the scene each day.
The format this year was changed to provide a "new type" of competition from that which has been in vogue over many years.
Day one at Nowra and day three at St Georges Basin formed a 36-hole tournament.
Day two at Worrigee Links was the NSWVGA Trophy event for both men and ladies.
Sussex Inlet hosted the picnic day on the Thursday for 62 competitors.
The presentation dinner with D' and Jac providing the music for dancing was held on the evening of Valentine's Day at Nowra Golf Club.
The evening was a roaring success with prizes awarded as listed under.
The final day (Friday) saw Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club host the 15-hole 4BBB medley event in ideal conditions.
Many visitors to the area during the tournament have already given their intention to return next year for the next event.
