VAL Pollack ensured the City of Orange Veterans Golf Classic women's overall title stayed in Orange.

The Duntryleague golfer took out the 54-hole stableford title with 118 points to edge out Bellingen's Sue Wilson-Brown by one point after yesterday's final round.

The women played their final round at Duntryleague yesterday and Pollack used her home course knowledge to good use.

The men were still playing as the sun was setting at Wentworth yesterday but there were leaders late in the day for the final round.

Belmont's Phil Jeffrey and Broken Hill's Ian Fillery tied with 78 off the stick in the A grade scratch results.

Tamworth's Trevor Kempson worked his way to a handy 81 and Duntryleague's John Burcher produced a final round 83.

Jack Purcell of Muree claimed the honours in the final B grade round carding 81 to finish two shots ahead of Wentworth Falls' Jim Addison (83).

Gosford's Ian Mitchell and Camden's Colin Hargreaves both carded rounds of 85.

Wentworth's David Wilson topped C grade on his home course with a round of 88 off the stick.

Barry Simpson (Everglades) was one shot behind on 89 and Liverpool's John Elliot was a further shot back on 90.

Today some golfers will stay around for a 18 hole four-ball best ball medley net stableford competition at Duntryleague and Wentworth.
