Following on from Narrandera and Yenda, Leeton held their Grass Roots Open Day on 8th December 2025.
\nFifty-three Veteran golfers from Weethalle, Narrandera, Yenda, Ganmain, Griffith and Leeton participated on the day. President Susan Reid had advertised this day well beforehand, and this had increased the patronage.
\nThe weather was very favourable, and the day was well organised by the Vets President Susan Reid, Geoff Mckenzie, Golf Pro Jason Mimmo and Col Tuckett. Volunteer Sandra Ward helped with the lunches.
\nA ham and salad roll, followed by watermelon, was enjoyed by players in the newly finished Leeton Golf clubhouse. A noticeable highlight was the camaraderie shown between the golfers from the visiting Clubs.
\nNSWVGA Councillor Penny Hudson spoke to the golfers about the Grass Roots program and how it has enhanced the awareness of this program and the benefits to smaller Veteran golf clubs.
