{"id":3350,"date":"2021-03-27T15:33:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T04:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nswvga.com.au\/cms\/?p=3350"},"modified":"2025-06-13T13:28:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T03:28:34","slug":"tamworth-week-of-golf-22-26-mar-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nswvga.com.au\/cms\/2021\/03\/tamworth-week-of-golf-22-26-mar-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Tamworth Week of Golf &#8211; 22-26 Mar 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hard working TD Paul McDougall had a very frustrating time leading up to the Tamworth WoG.\u00a0 The weather forecast wasn\u2019t looking good and then he was told he wouldn\u2019t be able to have the scheduled shotgun start for the final day at Tamworth GC, thus requiring negotiations to use both Longyard and Tamworth to accommodate a split field and still enable a lunch time presentation.\u00a0 <em>This was all before golf started on Monday &#8211; when the rain returned!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With carts banned at Tamworth Golf Club on Monday, Day 1 of NSWVGA Trophy, only 94 of the 140 field started the day.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday was a complete washout at Longyard resulting the 36-hole NSWVGA Trophy being reduced to 18 holes.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday at Longyard, whilst soggy underfoot in many places, games were completed although scores for morning players scores suffered before the course started to dry out later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, one tee starts on Friday at two venues meant the finish and the subsequent presentations were some 2 hours behind schedule. Therefore disappointingly, only sponsors and around 30 people, from a field of 128 attended the luncheon and Presentation of prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Paul and his committee are to be congratulated for their diligence and resourcefulness to achieve a satisfactory outcome on Friday and complete the Presentation Luncheon despite restrictions on clubhouse numbers and club ban on the shotgun start.<\/p>\n<p>Both courses were presented in the best possible manner given the heavy rain leading up to the tournament and then a complete washout on Tuesday.
