2024 VETS WEEK OF GOLF REPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fantastic weather<\/strong> and our Course in the best condition this year, made for a wonderful week of golf for our visiting Veterans. A capacity field<\/strong> of 134 players from 55 various golf clubs from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania \u2013 many making a return to Nambucca for annual group re-unions. It was great to catch up with old friends, and make lots of new ones.
\nOn Monday,<\/strong> 33 teams of Vets played an Irish Stableford, where the players took the best 1 score for the first 3 Holes, then the best 2 scores on the next three holes and the best 3 scores on the next 3 holes \u2013 then repeated this process on the back 9 Holes \u2013 no wonder it\u2019s called an \u201cIrish\u201d. had always insisted on this event as a means of getting our visitors used to the uniqueness of the Nambucca Island course, and so we carry on this tradition in his honour. Sponsored by our local Golden Sands Tavern, the winners were Jan & Geoff Alborough from Stawell and Carolynne Rose & Rod Wayling from Camden Haven with 89 points, with runners up Carmel & Bill Downton from Callala and Britta & Peter Lamborn from Wakehurst only one shot away with 88 points.
\nOn Tuesday & Thursday<\/strong>, they played a 36 Hole Stableford event with the best golfer awarded the NSWVGA Shield presnted by Councillor Peter Taylor. The Foreshore Caravan Park and Nambucca RSL Club are regular co-sponsors for this event in conjunction with NSWVGA. <\/p>\n

Sheila Caulfield from Wyong scored 82 points to win the Women\u2019s Shield from her nearest rival Karen Schniterling from St.Helens 72. <\/p>\n

The Men\u2019s shield went to John Manning from Sanctuary Cove with net 81, round 1 leader William Osborne from Tanilba Bay close behind 80. Special mention for John Bowron from Everglades, who had a sizzling 46 points (68 off the stick!) on Tuesday and winner of 36 Hole scratch. Not only that, but John, who I believe is 76, has played 8 shots under under his age \u2013 only at Nambucca! A great round to remember, John!<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s closing event<\/strong> was a 4BBB Stableford, sponsored by Tasman (Big 4) Holiday Park. Joanne & Peter Foster from Tamworth were winners with 50 points, from Annette & Gary Donaldson from Coraki with 49 points and Carmel & Bill Downton from Callala with 48 points.
\nThere are lots of photos taken during the event on the Club\u2019s Facebook page.
\nNext year\u2019s event<\/strong> will be from 25th to 29th August 2025 \u2013 we hope to have nomination forms avaialble from late February.
