Central West Vets Week of Golf Tournament 2025

The Central West Vets Week of Golf was held at Wentworth, Bathurst and Duntryleague Golf Courses from March 3rd to March 7th and wow what a week it was.
\nA full field of 214 players from 61 different clubs attended and made for a happy and fun filled week. The weather was kind, with no rain, but Alfred was making his presence felt even here with very windy conditions.<\/p>\n

The week began with a well attended Registration afternoon on Sunday, at the new Wentworth club house. Many thanks to Penny Hudson and John Daly for sorting out non vets members and paid up members not listed on the NSWVGA Members database.<\/p>\n

Monday<\/strong> was the first round of the 54 hole tournament at Wentworth Golf Club. The full field hit off at first light. The green\u2019s staff had prepared the course very well with the new putting green opened for the first time. Many comments were made about the improvements to the course, so thank you to the staff.<\/p>\n

Tuesday<\/strong> was Bathurst\u2019s turn with a sunny but windy day. The same applied on Thursday<\/strong> at Duntryleague. There were some good scores returned over the three days but in general most of the scores were low. This may have been due to the weather conditions or the pace of play, which was very slow. In the future, players need to be mindful of getting round the course as quickly as possible and thinking of keeping up with the group in front. Monitoring pace of play will be a priority for next year.<\/p>\n

Thursday night<\/strong> at the Orange Ex-Services\u2019 Club was the time to let your hair down, forget about the errant shots and three putts of the previous three days, hit the dance floor and enjoy yourself with wonderful food, service and of course, our entertainer ELVIS. From the number of dancers on the dance floor everyone enjoyed themselves to the full.
\n240 people were in attendance, including representatives from our generous sponsors, the Mayor of Orange City Council and the CEO of the Orange Ex-Services\u2019 Club.<\/p>\n

It has been very encouraging to receive the large number of positive communications we have had since the tournament; they make it all worthwhile. Finally, none of this would be possible without the wonderful staff at the three courses and clubs. The assistance from the clubs was invaluable and helped make this a memorable event for everyone and we thank them for it.<\/p>\n
