Glen Innes Trial Week of Golf
Posted on: 7 November
Location. Glen Innes Golf Club.
3rd – 7th October 2022
This was a trial week of golf.
Weather. Fine Monday and Tuesday, jumpers needed, Thursday mist to light rain, jumpers and umbrellas required, Friday cold and fine , jumpers a must.
The Course, The course was presented to its very best it could be without it being closed, carts on course but in rough only, sometimes, no run and the greens were short of a nightmare for visitors.
The Week, Only a very small field. This was very disappointing for the TD as Ken had done a lot of work to get this event happening. The biggest field was on Monday with 48 players in the 4 ball. The other 3 days were stableford and with small numbers of players still had 2 grades for men, 15 in each grade and 1 for the ladies 14. All visiting players were impressed with the running of this event and vowed to comeback next year and talk it up to friends and at other weeks of golf.
As this was a trail no NSWVGA winners were awarded.
Conclusion. This was a very enjoyable WOG, the locals made the visitors very welcome, morning tea was to die for and lunch which was supplied in your nomination fees, was a roast
everyday and in that cold weather it was beautiful. I am of the General opinions were that this Week of Golf will progress very quickly in status, accompanied by a large increase in numbers. Bring on next year and a dry track.
