Port Stephens Week of Golf 2022 Report.
30th October to 4th November 2022
After 2 cancelled years due to Covid, Port Stephens Week of Golf 2022 was an outstanding success with a capacity field for the first 3 days and well over 100 golfers staying on for the Friday 2BBB Stableford. No rain for the entire week was just an added bonus for the entire field.
Day 1,

At Pacific Dunes saw some extraordinary scoring, Graeme ‘Stumpy’ Stephens from Tallwoods led the way for the men with a score of 45 stableford points only to be out done by the leading ladies player Margaret Johnson from Kiama GC with her incredible score of 47 stableford points to easily take the first day honours.

At Horizons saw 40 knot winds and scoring was anything but easy, however Guy Yeldham from Sanctuary Cove came thru with a score of 44 points to easily lead the Mens side while Jacqui Bowen from Mollymook put a 37 points together with her 38 points from the previous day to lead the Ladies side.

At Nelson Bay was a perfect day for golf and the scores certainly proved that, Jacqui Bowen added yet another 38 points to her score to easily take out the Ladies 54 Hole event with a score of 113 points from Runner Up, Deb Campbell from Merewether with a score of 107 points.
The Ladies NSWVGA Medal which was played over the first 36 holes was won by Margaret Johnson from Kiama courtesy of her mammoth 47 points from Pacific Dunes with a score of 72 points from Runner Up Sharan Bowers from Belmont with a score of 71 points.
On the mens side Guy Yeldham cruised home with 33 points at Nelson Bay to easily win the Mens 54 Hole event with a score of 114 points from Runner Up Barry Woods from Gungahlin Lakes who posted a score of 108 points.
The Mens NSWVGA Medal was won by Mario La Marra from Port Kembla with a score of 70 stableford points from John Tooth from Dubbo also on 70 points on countback.
127 people attended the Presentation Dinner at the Nelson Bay Golf Club on the Thursday night and heard from NSWVGA Representative Peter Guy who thanked all players for attending and encouraged everyone to try and play more Weeks of Golf as a way of supporting country areas, also in attendance was long time Southern Highlands Tournament Director and life member of NSWVGA Les Mann and his wife Lois Hayes, Les now calls Nelson Bay home.

At Tanilba Bay GC saw 108 players line up for the final event of the week a 2BBB Stableford which was won by the Kiama ladies Sharon Girdler and Lori Bell with 48 points from 2nd place getters Noel Burnett from Kew GC and local Tanilba player John Clayton with 46 points on countback from 3rd place getters Christine and Guy Yeldham from Sanctuary Cove.
Finally it was great to see Port Stephens Week of Golf back up and running after a two year hiatus at 4 of country NSW’s best golf courses and the organising committee would like to thank their great sponsors, all golf clubs involved and most of all each participant for making it such a memorable week.
