SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS VETERAN GOLFERS ASSOCIATION
WEEK OF GOLF – NOVEMBER 7th to 11th, 2022
After preparing for our Week of Golf in 2020 and 2021, which were cancelled for obvious reasons, we finally held our 32nd Week of Golf. Even this was in doubt until a couple of weeks beforehand, but the weather predictions were accurate and the promised sun shone and the three courses were in surprisingly good condition.
At short notice, Highlands was able to replace Bowral which was not using carts and also had builders in to repair rain damage to the clubhouse, and Mount Broughton replaced Gibraltar in the middle of the year as Gibraltar had closed because of the wet conditions
Moss Vale was in doubt until a few days before the start of our event but was lovely by Tuesday.
We had 146 players registered from 49 golf clubs then 17 withdrawals for health and other reasons. Some would have been concerned that the event may not proceed because of the constant wet weather in the weeks leading up to our event.
Steven Craven and Chris McNall travelled the furthest at 856 kms from Ballina to Mount Broughton at Sutton Forest.
And I would like to apologise (almost sincerely) to those who scored the 6:00am, 6:08am, 6:16am, etc, starts at Highlands on Thursday!
We do have a great committee here and I would like to thank them for the fantastic work that they have done in the lead up to and during this event and also the staff of Highlands, Moss Vale and Mount Broughton golf clubs who went the extra mile to help us in so many ways.
