NORFOLK ISLAND VETERANS 2024 GOLF TOURNAMENT

Posted on: 4 March

NORFOLK ISLAND VETERANS GOLF TOURNAMENT 13TH TO 16TH FEBRUARY 2024
Approximately thirty Veteran golfers from NSW participated in this event in Norfolk Island.
This event has been running for 34 years and is very popular with Qld and NSW visitors.
The hospitality is very welcoming. The course is scenic but can be very windy as we found out this year. On Friday evening the Presentation dinner comprised a “Fish Fry” cooked by Chef/Club President David Magri and assisted by members of the Norfolk Island golf club. Delicious food and plentiful. The Club Captain Kieran Lawler kept proceedings flowing.
This event is not a NSWVGA event but we did present two mini shields to the overall winners. This had been a gesture originally introduced by the late President Ian Vidler.
Julie Bell and Stephen Gardner from Norfolk Island were the winners and expressed their appreciation.

A big thank you to everyone involved in putting the Vets Golf Tourament together to make it happen. The people who organised it (very well done), the Greens Staff the Bar Staff, the Ladies who served up the loverly Fish Fry, the Sponsors who donated so generously. Great to meet so many nice people locals & visitors. Lastly to my playing partners over the 3 days enjoyed their company immensely, especially on Friday, many thanks to Cookie, Snappa & Dave Jeffries for tips & a lot of local knowledge of how to deal with the wind. I’m sure I will back.
