Leeton 2024 Week of Golf

Posted on: 28 October

Leeton Week of Golf 21st to 25th October 2024

Tournament Direct – Jason Mimmo
Jason was assisted by his wife Toni, Vets President Rob O’Callaghan and various volunteers.
Weather
There were beautiful blue skies every day. Monday and Tuesday were both warm but both Thursday and Friday had a cold wind.

Registration – There was no formal registration but Jason suggested in his email to meet at the local Soldiers club at 5pm for informal drinks on Sunday. About 20 people turned up and had drinks and some stayed for dinner. The draws were emailed out to players.
Players
Only 62 participants this year. Fewer than normal possibly because of the Nationals being held on the same week.
Course
There were preferred lies on fairways only. A lot of work by Josh Helson and volunteers to bring the course to the condition it is now.

Each day lunch was provided by sponsors. Vets President Rob O’Callaghan and his volunteers organised a sausage sizzle on Monday and Thursday then Friday Hot Dog rolls. On Tuesday Taylah made ham and salad bread rolls and oranges were provided. All very much appreciated by players

Congratulations to Kevin Healy from Tathra who had a Hole-in-One on the 4th tee on Tuesday.

An enjoyable communal BBQ was held on Tuesday evening at the Oasis Caravan Park with 36 people attending. Lots of different salads were provided by various people. Noel Hayes entertained everyone with some poetry.

Noel also had donated a TV to Leeton which was raffled during the week raising $755 for the club. The lucky winner was Penny Hudson.

The Presentation evening was held on Thursday at the Hydro Hotel with good attendance. A meal of Garlic bread roll, roast pork with a medley of vegetables and a variety of desserts were served. All good quality and plentiful. Jason was well organised and the evening ran very smoothly.

There is a new clubhouse being built at the moment so will be available for next year’s tournament. The week of golf was well organised with Jason being very friendly and helpful throughout the week.
