Mudgee Vets’ Week of Golf Tournament
15 – 19 September 2025
Tournament Director:
Jeff Williamson ably assisted by Jim Yeo, Rod Wilson, Bob Colley, Marcia Box, Jenny Tribe, Glenn Halliday, Ron Tribe and our army of volunteers who may be small in number but are huge in effort and support. Many of our volunteers offered to stay almost the entire day doing spotting and assisting in any way possible. The contribution of the MGC Ladies was, as always, outstanding by collating the results, decorating the tables at the Presentation Dinner and everything else that goes with running a successful Tournament. A huge thank you also to our wonderful sponsors which amounted to over $11 000.
NSW VGA Representative:
Penny Hudson
Course & Clubhouse:
Huge congratulations to green-keeper, Jason Seis, who with the assistance from his greens staff were able to produce a course in outstanding condition. Many players commented on the magnificent greens. The creek meandering through the course caused another element of difficulty to the course.
Thanks must go to Operations Manager, Tom Healy-McMillan, and his staff for the use of the Club and bar. Also, a huge thanks to Danny & Jenny, and our brilliant restaurant team.
Weather:
Warm, sunny days with just the hint of rain in the final 30 minutes of the Tournament..
Player numbers:
Monday … 199
Tuesday … 196
Thursday … 189
Friday … 179
The numbers fluctuated slightly over the course of the week with some slight injuries and illnesses (3 hospitalised, 2 attending physios and a number with the usual aches and pains). Fortunately, at last report all were in much improved health. A few players opted to not participate in the Friday event to ensure an early return home. There were a total of 100 male players and 99 female players.

There were 3 grades for male players and 3 grades for female players on all three days with a medley 4BBB on Friday.
Interestingly the demographic changed considerably with only 76 returning from last year with 122 new to the event. This eventuated in some players unable to play as the field was limited.
Clubs represented:
Antil Park (1), Bargara (2), Beerwah (2), Bellingen (1), Belmont (11), Breakers (3), Cabramatta (1), Callala (3), Caloundra (4), Camden (2), Campbelltown (1), Coffs Harbour (1), Cootamundra (4), Cromer (4), Duntry League (2), East Maitland (2), Everglades (19), Fox Hills (8), Goulburn (4), Hawks Nest (8), Hervey Bay (2), Horizons (1), Kiama (15), Leeton (2), Long Reef (2), Magenta Shores (1), Merewether (10), Mt Broughton (2), Mudgee (6), Palm Beach (2), Port Macquarie (13), Royal Sydney (1), Shelley Beach (6), Springwood (4), Strathfield (2), Tallerbudgera (2), Toronto (1), Toukley (2), Tully Park (1), Wakehurst (17), Walcha (1), Waratah (5), Warringah (1), Wollongong (2), Wyong (3), Yeoval (1).
Total of 46 different Clubs.
Registration Day:
A “Meet & Greet” session on Sunday afternoon was strongly supported with a free BBQ supplied. The free BBQ remained during play on Monday and Tuesday as the Club Restaurant was not open. It proved extremely popular. Great thanks to Jim Read, Doug Cook and crew for keeping the masses well fed. The dinner table seating was available and arranged at this time.
Presentation Dinner:
Well attended, with great attendance. Unfortunately, we were limited by table and seating space and several of the late entries were unable to attend. Meal consisted of either lamb shank / roast chicken alternate and chocolate slice / pavlova for dessert. The meal was a feature with many great compliments for an outstanding meal.
NSW VGA Representative, Penny Hudson, spoke.
