Orange Week of Golf Report (held March 7th to 11th 2022)

The Tournament was held under threatening skies on Monday but luckily no rain fell until Tuesday afternoon. Most entrants completed their rounds with some of the best scores of the day occurring in the afternoon groups. The rest of the week was typical Orange autumn weather, cool nights and beautiful sunny days.

The number of contestants were down this year (about %30 less) probably due to COVID and maybe the price of petrol resulting in 36 local entrants and 101 visitors. We also had quite a few players who lived in the areas impacted by the February/March floods, having to cancel.

Visitors came from far and wide, North Queensland, Gold Coast, Brisbane, North South and Central coasts of NSW, far west NSW and Sydney. It was good to see 42 first time entrants.
Everyone enjoyed their week in Orange and playing our two golf courses even though Wentworth is undergoing major improvements with a new irrigation system being installed and much earth works with new tees and greens on some holes.

The Presentation Dinner Dance on Thursday night was well attended and an enjoyable night was had by all. One highlight for the ladies on the night, were lucky door prizes donated by Everly Jewellers of Orange that included a $1,000 necklace.
